Cusp diagrams and small hyperbolic 3-manifolds
In 2001 Chun Cao and Robert Meyerhoff proved that the figure-eight knot complement and its sibling were the smallest cusped orientable hyperbolic 3-manifolds. In this talk I will describe a set of techniques developed by myself, Robert Meyerhoff, and David Gabai which should allow us to extend that classification to include the six smallest such manifolds, possibly even the ten smallest, and which hopefully will also generalize to the closed case. | ||
