Learning Seminar in Representation Stability

Date:  Friday, October 29, 2021
Location:  1866 East Hall (3:00 PM to 3:50 PM)

Title:  Noetherianity and twisted commutative algebras

Abstract:   We'll talk about what it means for a twisted commutative algebra to be noetherian. We'll go over some of what's known, specifically focusing on the proof that Sym(Sym^2 C^\infty) is noetherian (arXiv:1501.06925v2). Along the way we'll also talk about what isn't known, and time permitting we'll give some motivation for a Grobner perspective.
