Learning Seminar in Representation Stability
Date: Friday, April 01, 2022
Location: 1866 East Hall (4:00 PM to 4:50 PM)
Title: Matrices
Abstract: I will discuss a new concept I am excited about: Matrices. Matrices are a way of encoding the information of a linear map between two vector spaces with distinguished bases. There is even a matrix "multiplication" operation that corresponds to the composition of linear maps! I will discuss these ideas as well as other exciting notions like the trace and determinant of a matrix. Based on joint work with Andrew Snowden.
DISCLAIMER: This is not an April fools joke.
