By Taxi. While taxi service is available from Detroit Metro Airport to Ann Arbor, it is about 23 miles from the airport to the hotel, so this can be an expensive proposition for one person. This can be an economical choice for several going to the same destination, but be sure to get an estimate of the fare from the driver.

By Van. Regularly scheduled van service between Detroit Metro Airport and Ann Arbor is available from Commuter Express. Ticket counters are located near the baggage claim areas at the airport. By Auto. The distance to all Ann Arbor destinations relevant for the conference is 23-24 miles.

• To the Sheraton Inn Ann Arbor: The main road exiting the airport will intersect Interstate 94 at the edge of the airport. Drive west on I-94 toward Ann Arbor about 20 miles until you reach Exit 177 (State Street, Ann Arbor). Exit right (north) onto State Street and drive a very short distance (about 0.1 miles) to Victor's Way, then turn right (east) onto Victor's Way. Boardwalk will intersect Victor's Way from the left (north) after about 0.2 miles. The Sheraton is on Boardwalk near that intersection.
• To the University of Michigan Mathematics Department: The main road exiting the airport will intersect Interstate 94 at the edge of the airport. Drive west on I-94 toward Ann Arbor about 17 miles until you reach the US 23 exits. Drive north on US-23 for about two miles to Exit 37 onto Washtenaw Avenue. Drive west on Washtenaw Avenue about 3 miles (staying in the right lane in the early part, since Washtenaw veers off to the right after about 1.5 miles) until reaching South University Avenue. Turn left (west) onto South University Avenue for one block, to Forest Avenue, then turn left (south) onto Forest Avenue for about one-half block to a public parking structure. (There is also free on-street parking just south of there, if you are fortunate enough to find a spot.) The mathematics building (East Hall) is reached from the parking structure by walking back north to South University, west one block to Church Street, then north one-half block to East Hall, which will be on your left. If you get to Dennison Hall, you have gone too far north.
