Professional Development Program

(This page is still under development. It will eventually contain pointers to descriptions and samples of the training materials we have developed, such as documentation and videotapes, along with further information on obtaining them.)

The University of Michigan's Department of Mathematics conducts a one-week professional development program for teaching assistants and faculty who will be teaching precalculus and calculus courses in our Introductory Program. This development program includes training for those who will be teaching for the first time, as well as material on modern pedagogy that is useful for experienced teachers. The program stresses cooperative learning and the de-emphasis of lecturing.

The 1995 professional development program will be held August 28 - September 1.
