Date Assignment
6 Dec Project 3
2 Dec Evaluative Opportunity 3 (Chapters 10 & misc)
28 Nov ReRead Partial Fractions hand-out  /  HW PF: Work the problems from the Partial Fractions hand-out. We will go over this in class.
23,24,25 Nov Thanksgiving Break: no class
21 Nov Read Partial Fractions hand-out  /  HW TS: Work the problems from the Trigonometric Substitution hand-out.
  Chapter 10
19 Nov Read Trigonometric Substitution hand-out  /  HW 10.7: #2,4,6,8,12,18
17 Nov Read 10.7 (rhw)  /  HW 10.6: #6,10,14,18  /  Portfolio!: (1) Look at the "class clarification" on diffeq modeling. There are two cases where sneaky constant-sign manipulations took place. Explain these. (2) Pick one of the problems in the assignment for Wednesday and work it as a written problem (so you'll have it in two places---the homework, and the portfolio), explaining each step in your solution, and modeling your work after the steps in the web page clarification. (3) explain how the work we've done with differential equations is related to other material we've covered this semester.
15 Nov HW 10.6: #2,4,5,9 (for 5 & 9: show all work), 12, 16
12 Nov Read 10.6 (rhw)  /  HW 10.5: #2,4,6,8,16,20,22
10 Nov Read 10.5 (rhw)  /  HW 10.4: #2,6,8,14,18,22,24,28,30
8 Nov Read 10.4 (rhw)  /  HW 10.3: #2,4,6,10
5 Nov HW 10.2: #2 (figure), 4,6,8  /  E.O.2 Portfolio: for each problem on the E.O. on which you missed points, (1) Explain what about the mathematical concept you missed on the E.O., and (2) Rework the problem correctly, explaining each step of your solution as you go.
4 Nov Read 10.3 (rhw)
3 Nov Read 10.2 (rhw)  /  HW 10.1: #2,6,8,10 (for extra credit: #11)  /  Review Portfolio: Find the problem on the E.O. you missed the most points on. Carefully explain the mathematical concept behind this problem. Then find a challenging odd-numbered problem in that section of the book that is similar to the E.O. problem and work it, explaining as you do so your solution in complete sentences. Finally, explain how this mathematical concept is related to something else we covered in chapters 8 and 9.
1 Nov Read 10.1 (rhw)
29 Oct Evaluative Opportunity 2 (Chapters 8 & 9)
